Welcome!
At Hillcrest Baptist Church you’ll find a family of real people, who seek to Love God, Love Others, and Make Disciples of Jesus Christ.
Hillcrest has been a part of the community of Carlsbad, NM for the last 80 years. We don’t claim to have all the answers or to be able to provide you with everything you are looking for, but we seek to teach the Bible and join together in Christian community. We’re grateful for all God has done over the last 80 years and invite you to become a part of the mission and the history here at Hillcrest Baptist Church.
What to Expect
When you visit, you’ll meet a bunch of loving people just like you. We worship all together as one family. Our services run for about one hour in total and are traditional in worship style (we sing from the Hymnal). Our pastor preaches a message from the Bible (usually about 30 minutes). Our dress code is casual, so come as you are.
We invite you to join us at 9:30 am for Sunday School, we have classes for kids and adults, or at 10:45 am for Sunday Service. We are currently meeting in the Fellowship Hall (the building behind the main building).

If I attend Church regularly why should I become a member?
For the person who has chosen to follow the Lord Jesus Christ, membership in a local church is important for three essential reasons…
A. It is Biblical!
Collective and corporate worship is a vital part of spiritual life (Hebrews 10:24). Therefore a commitment to a local body of like-minded believers will ensure three benefits in your walk with Christ:- Your personal spiritual growth and the fulfillment of your Christian responsibility (Eph. 4:11-15)
- Your personal accountability (Gal. 6:1-2); and
- Your Christian productivity (I Cor. 12:1-31)
B. It is Theological!
The New Testament affirms that when a person makes a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ he is “baptized into one body” (1 Cor. 12:13). This figurative expression affirms that to be a Christian is to be an active member of Christ’s church. It is in the context of a local body (church) of believers that you exercise your spiritual gift, you receive biblical instruction, and you actively join with others to fulfill the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20).C. It is Practical!
Your commitment to membership in a local church provides many practical benefits for you, your family, and your extended church family. Some of these benefits include: 1) The ability for us all to do more together than we could ever possibly do alone; 2) The confidence in knowing that you have found a place where you can meet new friends and develop meaningful relationships; and 3) The peace and assurance of having like-minded friends who will hold you accountable in your weaknesses, encourage you in your disappointments, and rejoice with you in your victories.

How do I join Hillcrest Baptist Church?
You can become a member in one of 3 ways:
-
A profession of faith in Jesus Christ and following in believer’s baptism by immersion.
-
Statement of faith in Jesus Christ and following in believer’s baptism, if not already done in another Christian church that practices believer’s baptism by immersion.
-
Transferring membership from another Southern Baptist church, which testifies to your previous baptism by immersion.
-
At the close of each service, we have a time of response. This is a time to receive prayer, counseling, or information about joining the church. At that time, we can assist you and gather any necessary information. We would then present you to the congregation and the congregation will affirm your decision.
The Pastor is always available to discuss salvation and baptism. To make an appointment with the pastor, please call the church office at (575) 887-1128 or email the pastor at pastor@hillcrestcarlsbad.com.
